Web Analytics & Email Marketing Manager

Scope

WEB ANALYTICS

Support the analytic needs of business by analyzing web traffic using clickstream tools such as Unica NetInsight, ClickTracks and Google Analytics.

Create holistic dashboards by pulling data from different data sources and websites for presentations to senior management team.

Drive core insights from the data to suggest, create and execute a/b or multivariate tests that drive fundamental improvements to the site experience.

Exhibit a high level of expertise in driving the data strategy across multiple “listening posts” (websites, survey data, email data, testing, financial/sales reports, CMS data etc).

Web Analyst will typically focus on multiple business unit websites and support all facets of the decision making platform (clickstream analysis, outcomes analysis, search analysis, testing analysis). Web Analyst will also work with the website technology team closely to identify gaps in the data capture strategy and collaboratively implement enhancements. Web Analyst will also be expected to partner outside the business units and outside the company to ensure that best practices in metrics and decision making are being exposed to the BU management and core website decision makers.

EMAIL MARKETING

Support Email Marketing needs of the company by analyzing, testing and implementing best Email practices throughout the organization.

Create holistic reports by pulling data from different email data sources such as EmailLabs and Feedblitz and/or augmenting them with Behavior data. Work closely with Web Analytics Manager.

Lead email testing initiatives, from Idea Generation to Execution and Analysis in multiple Divisions throughout organization. Be a thought leader and an innovator in Email.

Email Marketing Manager will focus on multiple Newsletters and email products and support Email platforms that are available. Email Marketing Manager will work with web editors and designers to collaboratively implement enhancements within each Newsletter. Email marketing manager will also be expected to partner outside the business units and outside the company to ensure that best practices in email metrics, CAN SPAM compliance and decision making are being exposed to management and core decision makers.

WEB ANALYTICS

  • Weekly, monthly reports (Excel, EmailLabs, FeedBlitz)
  • Ad hoc on per deployment reports for internal or external clients
  • Creating and coordinating testing ideas | implementing email tracking requirements
  • Troubleshooting any Deliverability issues, maintaining reputation
  • Being primary contact with the vendors, supporting and troubleshooting any email-related issues
  • Effective and persuasive data presentation (verbal and written) for teams and business leaders as it relates to Email


EMAIL MARKETING

  • Weekly, monthly reports (Excel, Clickstream, CMS, SQL, survey systems)
  • Website behavior and User experience analysis | ability to establish success metrics
  • Data consolidation and validation
  • Coordinating tags, tracking implementations, creating tracking requirements documents
  • Business requirements synthesized from multiple sources, including: project managers, group publishers, development team, designers, editors and sales
  • Effective and persuasive data presentation (verbal and written) for teams and business leaders


Background/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA or MS in marketing preferred
  • 3 years of clickstream data experience with tools such as: Omniture, WebTrends, Unica or Google Analytics
  • Experience in one or more roles in an online environment such as eCommerce or content-driven models
  • 1 year experience working with Javascript
  • SQL Experience
  • Mid-level expertise with SEO and SEM strategies. Minimum of 1 year experience in measuring success for SEO/SEM campaigns
  • Experience working in an (online) Agency a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to interact with end users and technical resources
  • Email marketing skills prefer, but not necessary

Business Development Director

Vance Marketing Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Business Development Director based in our office in Lincolnshire, IL. This individual will be responsible for selling all aspects of Vance Marketing Solutions’ digital capabilities, including:

 

  • website development/conversion optimization
  • search engine optimization
  • pay-per-click
  • email marketing
  • social media marketing
  • mobile marketing
  • web analytics

 

Ideal candidate will be able to take a consultative approach with clients to help them determine what steps they need to take to improve their overall business and create an integrated marketing communications plan. At least five years agency experience / selling digital services is required. Understanding the business-to-business environment and/or knowledge of the salon, woodworking and agricultural industries is a plus. Should have the ability to have face-to-face contact with national accounts that may have a limited understanding of digital tactics. Frequent travel required.

 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Working with print sales team to offer new services to existing clients
  • Preparing proposals, giving presentations and negotiating with business development opportunities
  • Cultivating new accounts through cold calling and networking

Position Summary

 

The Vice President of eMedia is responsible for the success of Vance’s digital products. This includes developing and driving the digital strategies for the overall Vance organization including Vance Marketing Solutions. The Vice President of eMedia is ultimately responsible for the websites and related products within Vance including development, maintenance, marketing and sales.

 

The Vice President of eMedia works closely with the operating executives across Vance’s business units and will lead an integrated strategy that leverages these existing business platforms. In addition to expanding Vance’s current digital businesses, the Vice President is expected to develop, launch, and look for potential acquisitions of new and profitable digital services that enhance the company’s stable of powerful brands.

 

The ideal candidate will be a visionary and collaborative leader experienced in developing digital advertising strategies, creating new digital products and services, and leveraging digital channels to expand existing businesses. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing pricing for digital products and services, is expected to develop and manage the P&L of the eMedia department and Vance Marketing Solutions division, and will be responsible for a staff of 20 digital professionals.

 

The Vice President of eMedia is also the chief revenue officer for the full Vance portfolio of web and digital products. The successful candidate will have direct sales experience and be responsible for training and mentoring the divisional sales staffs for digital success.

 

This position reports to the President of the company and will be based at Vance’s corporate headquarters in suburban Chicago, Illinois.

  • Ensure the exponential growth of Vance’s digital products and services, including Vance Marketing Solutions.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION: KEY SELECTION CRITERIA


Ideal Experience

 

  • An executive with a deep understanding of the digital media marketplace and its customers and competition.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in direct marketing or publishing, with preferably a minimum of three years of experience in a media-focused digital environment.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in business development and sales.
  • The ideal candidate will have both traditional and new digital media experience and will have relevant experience in the current transition of one to the other.
  • Significant experience in a leadership and team-building role, i.e., owning a P&L, managing staff (preferably multi-functions: editorial, marketing, technical, creative) and executing decisions.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, Internet business models, ecommerce opportunities, and the general digital market and industry. Externally-focused and active - someone who develops and maintains strong relationships within the industry.
  • Hands-on knowledge of website production, operations and content management systems.
  • Strong financial background and experience in evaluating build-versus-buy decisions on technology-related investments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related discipline.

  • Outstanding strategy skills; a well-developed understanding of buying behaviors and usage patterns; knows how to move quickly to seize opportunities in a rapidly changing media landscape.

  • Strong communicator and collaborator with the proven ability to generate passion and shared mission across the enterprise for product excellence and consistent achievement of business objectives.
  • Experience in a matrixed organization will be useful in drawing together Vance’s diverse business models and initiatives to expand on and build new, profitable products and services.
